Checked out backcountry slopes adjacent to Whitefish Mtn Resort. Reactive storm snow on specific terrain features. Harmless on nearly all slopes.
Canyon Creek and Hellroaring Peak.
Not just "relatively harmless." Flat out harmless. Needed steep (close to 40*) and continuous slope to get these moving.
Ran on steep slopes above Hellroaring Peak traverse (Wally's). No ski tracks in vicinity; was not there early in AM. Left debris pile ~8' wide on traverse.
Natural avalanche on steep slope above highway 40, where NE winds blowing snow off long, flat fetch. One similar slide triggered by hand that propagated 100 ft along a roadcut.
