Today we went riding at Skyland in the Flathead Range. Our goal was to cover ground and look for recent avalanche activity and test wind slabs.
Up the Skyland Rd. to the end.
Observed two nearby avalanches that appeared to have failed later or after the storm.
We observed wide, old (almost filled in) crowns. These were all on east and north aspects along the base of cliffs in wind loaded terrain. Debris piles were covered. I would assume they were large enough to bury or injure a human given the terrain and distance they would have ran.
