I was aiming for the prominent gully that starts near the Elk summit and descends northeasterly. Skied, then boot packed to 6,200 ft . Turned around at that point due to a variety of crusts on every aspect including the one I planned to ski. Wind seemed to be the villain. The wind damage in the forest was dramatic including one area just after crossing the tracks into GNP in which ALL the trees in a approximately one acre site were down. The downed trees all pointed south. Further up the trail about half of an aspen grove was decapitated at the 10 ft level, all pointing north. As you can conclude, the trail was messy too. 11 degrees at 0930, 24 degrees at 1400. Breezy after 1030 though the flags at Snowslip Inn were limp on the way home.
Starting at lower Autumn Cr trail.
