Glide avalanche occurred mid-day on southeast aspect along the Glacier Wall in the upper McDonald Creek valley. This occurred after >24 hours of sub-freezing temperatures indicating little to no refreeze deep in the snowpack at the snow/ground interface. Skies were partly cloudy but enough incoming solar radiation near a dark cliff band combined with previously warm and sunny conditions was enough to cause an avalanche.
Another indication of spring is the presence of grizzly tracks at low elevations. We also spotted wolf tracks and scat.
