Today's tour into Glacier Park was highlighted by some impressive persistent slab avalanches that ran earlier in the week.
Heavens Peak to 7,500'
Appeared to fail on or just below Oct 25 crust. Measured crown heights from 150 cm to 90 cm on one of the slides. Impressive progopagtion and several subsequent crowns below rock bands.
Could not see the crown on this one, just the debris, which was buried by a fair amount of snow. My guess is it ran either early on 11/19 or late on 11/17 loading events. It's timing was earlier than the other two crowns, which clearly ran at the tail of the 11/19 event.
Wind slabs, but some had moist-looking debris, which makes me think they ran yesterday during solar max.
