Traveled to Rescue Creek in the Flathead Range for two reasons. First, we wanted to observe wet loose avalanche activity associated with the warm sunny weather of 3/10 and 3/11. Secondly, FAC staff (Flathead National Forest employees) wanted to help Glacier National Park Rangers become familiar with new terrain, on the other side of the tracks, in the event of a future Search and Rescue mission. Interagency response and cooperation is vital for all backcountry SAR incidents.
Slides started at both upper and mid elevations.
Bluebird in the morning followed by thin high clouds for the afternoon. Cloud cover limited high temperatures for the day.
